MORPh Leadership & Primary Care NHS Policy Academy
Welcome to the MORPh Primary Care Training Network Leadership Academy.
This academy is designed to support newly appointed and experienced practice and PCN pharmacists in their new roles
The PCN DES includes Pharmacists becoming leaders in Primary Care – our Modules, Skills Evenings and associated support, will guide you through the process and journey to becoming a leader in your practice. There will also be opportunity to undertake individual real-time projects in practice.
It is hoped the MORPh Leadership Academy will be flexible in its approach allowing the attendee to map their own requirements based on their identified PDP with their line managers, rather than a paternalistic approach. Therefore, a further 30 learners who do not need to do all modules will have places opened to them on first come first serve basis.
All modules have been aligned to the RPS Foundation and Advanced Pharmacists Framework. The Leadership online work book will highlight the alignment to the competency framework and provide an area where you can input you project work and evidence for each competency descriptor.
The leadership academy will be open to 50 – 100 full time learners, who we will advise that they need to be in a position to be able to aspire to a leadership role in the next 1-2 years and the modules and support should form part of their journey within a framework.
Pharmacists may be from:
- Community pharmacy and be established team leaders but have little awareness of the NHS funding flows, priorities, impact of social care and health acts
- Experienced practice pharmacists who understand the dynamics in practice but have little leadership or team building experience and limited awareness of the wider NHS context
- Newly qualified, accessing PCN pharmacy through the DES
The academy will offer a range of live Leadership Talks as webinars with a 1 hour session on the topic followed by a 1 hour session on examples – with live Q&As. Attendees will need to start applying the principles to their own workplace.
The modules will be recorded and put on a separate area on the MORPh website for delegates to review alongside a framework to add in their own experiences.
We already have a Telegram group, now with over 300 PCN pharmacists, who are looking for support and guidance. Within this group you will be able to engage with your peers as well as ask questions, to be answered by one of our expert pharmacists.
A certificate will be issued upon completion of the Leadership Academy.
