The Enhancing Clinical Excellence: Skills and Decision-Making in Primary Care Study Day is prioritised, and FREE, for Primary Care, PCN, ICB and GP Practice Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Trainees. 

This event will start at 09:30am with the Welcome and Introductions. The study day will begin shortly after. Our expert speakers will be discussing the following topics:

Clinical Decision-Making: A Framework for Excellence

  • Introduction to clinical reasoning and decision-making in primary care
  • Approaches to assessing patient presentations and prioritising care
  • Case Studies – putting decision making into practice

Key Clinical Skills for Primary Care Pharmacists – Ear Nose and Throat

  • Ottis Media recognition and management
  • Ottis Externa recognition and management
  • Tonsillitis

Basic Clinical Skills

  • Blood pressure
  • Pulse
  • Sats
  • Respiratory Examintaiton

Interpreting ECGs and recognising red flags

  • ECG – basic of the ECG trace
  • Detecting common arrhythmias
  • Red flags and referral criteria
  • Effect of medicines on ECG tracers
  • ECG contradictions to medicines eg. ST elevation

Our study days are sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry. However, the agenda for each study day is independently managed, and developed, by our clinical management team.

Registering for this event and not attending will carry a £20 “No-Show” fee unless your place is cancelled 2 weeks prior to the event.
