MORPh Associate Blog – Emily Kennedy

Emily Kennedy, MORPh Associate has experience in hospital, academia and community pharmacy. Recently she works within Primary Care in Dumfries and Galloway. During her time here, she has built up a locality pharmacy support team of 18, including General Practice Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Support Workers. Emily supports and manages the delivery of pharmacotherapy in general practices in the locality with her team, as well as undertaking specialist roles in respiratory and pain. She likes to innovate and as well as being in the first Scottish cohort, Emily is a qualified mindfulness teacher and utilises this skill to support her patients in the management of pain.

Her NES work includes developing and delivering training on consultation skills and developing provision of education support for common clinical conditions management in community pharmacies. This builds on the widely used ‘Common clinical conditions and minor ailments distance learning pack’ which Emily authored for NES and has kept regularly revised and updated. Furthermore, she is an author and facilitator for PBSGL and until recently was an e-tutor for the Robert Gordon University.

Emily is very passionate about pharmacy development and education, and our influence and input into improving patient care. She is also especially keen on balance – in work and personal lives, and feels that if we have kindness in mind when looking after ourselves and others, then we cannot go far wrong.
