The Accelerated Diabetes Academy Module 1 webinar is prioritised, and FREE, for Primary Care, PCN, ICB and GP Practice Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Trainees. 

This study day will start at 18:30 with the Welcome and Introductions. The webinar will begin shortly after. Our expert speakers will be discussing the following topics:

• Early Action in Diabetes
• Diagnostic criteria and symptoms
• Diabetic complications and HbA1c
• Vascular protection in diabetes’ Steno2 trials
• Types of diabetes
• Pre diabetes
• HbA1c targets and individualization
• Different types of presentation of diabetes in clinical practice, ‘’getting the diagnosis right’’
• Clinical inertia
• Legacy effect in diabetes

Learning Outcomes

• Describe the burden of diabetes and its impact on resources and on population health
• Understanding the disease process and its short and long term impact on patients
• Diagnose different types of diabetes based on symptoms history taking and blood results
• Understand where the clinical pharmacist can add value and can support stratification and improve management of diabetes patients
• Work in partnership with the patient to identify strategies to optimize lifestyle issues e.g. to  minimise weight gain and to set activity targets
